Killing Sarai by J.A. Redmerski

This may be one of the most beautiful covers i have ever seen for a book. Just look at it, it's amazing and one of the main things that instantly attracted me to this book.

I found out about this story two days before it's release date and i still couldn't wait.
Sarai was taken to Mexico by her mother when she was only fourteen years old, to live with her mothers boyfriend and notorious gang lord Javier. Only Javier liked Sarai more than he liked her mother.

One night when an American (Victor), the first American Sarai has seen in nine years, she takes this as her chance to escape Javier and the compound she has been held prisoner in since she was fourteen.

Breaking out and sneaking into the American's car, she swaps one bad guy for another, as the American is an assassin. Instead of taking her back to Javier he helps her, and the shotgun Sarai holds to his head had nothing to do with it.

At first he uses her as leverage to make sure he gets the full amount of money from Javier when he kills his target. Then Sarai becomes a target and Victor feels he has to protect her, that he has to give her a chance at a normal life.

Victor could have taken Sarai back, could have used her like Javier used her, could have beaten her or abandoned her. But he doesn't and soon Sarai finds herself falling in love with a killer.

When i look into his eyes i see something there, although dormant and completely indistinct, i know it's there. And it's powerful. I want to understand it, to feel it, to taste it on my lips.

And just maybe, the man that couldn't feel, couldn't love, is starting to realise he wasn't as protected from her as he thought.

Sarai has slowly but surely broken through Victor's tough defenses and reminded him what it's like to feel for someone. He has to protect her even from his own family. Because God knows he can't kill her, even though he knows he should.

I LOVED this and i am slowly dying while waiting on the sequel which i hope it out soon!!

This book takes you on a journey that you won't forget, and i couldn't put this story down. Sarai is a perfect heroine, brave and independent but at the same petrified of the new life she has been handed. Victor teaches her how to survive on her own, and she can do it, she just can't survive without him. And he can't stay.

A MUST read. One of my tops for 2013

Lash by L.G. Castillo

This was different from the normal kind of book i would go for. But i was instantly pulled to it when i saw the cover, it's just so pretty right? (the half naked hot guy had nothing to do with it:)
Lash was different from the other Angels, he was rebellious, but he always got away with it with nothing more than a light scalding from the Archangel Michael. However, one day when he takes matters into his own hands once more and saves the life of someone who was meant to die, Lash's disregard for rules can no longer be ignored and he is sent to earth as one of the Fallen. Stripped of most of his Angel powers, he has to learn to live with the humans, which he does for over thirty years, until he gets his chance to return home.

All he has to do is protect a girl name Naomi. A girl who doesn't want protection, a girl who has lost everything even her belief in God.

Protecting her is no easy mission. Not when she drives a motorcycle like she is in the X Games or when she no longer wants to live. But Lash wants to go home, that is why he is so determined to keep her a live and safe. The fact that he is beginning to fall for her and the strange visions of a past life with her have nothing to do with his protectiveness of her, or so he tries to tell himself.

I enjoyed this book and the relationships between Lash and Naomi was genuine and i was able to relate to the characters. The supporting characters were brilliant also and gave some good laugh-out-loud moments. Even Bear the Chihuahua.

Will be continuing with the series.

Wings of Arian by Devri Walls

I started reading this about a month ago. It seemed like my kind of book but turned out not to be, i got about a third of the way through it before i stopped reading.

At time i felt like i didn't know what was going on, one minute the book seemed really rushed then it would just drag.

The chemistry between the two main characters, for me, just wasn't believable. It started off as one of those love-hate relationships which normally i love, but even when they hated each other it just felt emotionless.

For me the story wasn't strong and there wasn't enough to keep me interested. It just seemed to be lacking in everything, i feel if the characters were better written then this could have saved the book but sadly it just wasn't enough.

Have to give this one star i'm afraid!

Chasing Invisible – Excerpt

“Jules, you’re home! I have to admit, I was a little worried you might not come back.” Chase gave me a kiss as I walked through our front door with Susan and Grace in tow.
“What are you talking about, of course I’d come home.”
Chase looked to me first, then to Susan. “So you haven’t seen?”
“Seen what? Chase, will you please tell me what’s going on?” My patience was beyond thin after sitting in traffic for so many hours.
“Now just promise me you won’t don’t get upset, Jules.” Chase pulled a newspaper from behind his back. It was an issue of some supermarket rag called National Gossip Magazine. He held up the cover.
The headline read:
Honeymoon Over! Julia and Baby Spend Night in Hotel After Brawl at Royal Family Home.
The picture underneath showed me with a scrunched up face, no makeup, messed up hair, wearing a bathrobe, and holding a crying baby. The scene from when I opened the door at the hotel room just yesterday.
I grabbed the paper. “I can’t believe this! How can they do this? Can we stop them?”
“I’m afraid it’s too late. Congratulations, babe. We’ve made it to the tabloids!” Chase said, smirking.
“Why are you laughing? This is horrible!”
“Really, Jules, don’t worry about it. Nobody takes this paper seriously. This same paper reports that our president has aliens in a hidden room in the West Wing and a 10-year-old boy was found in the jungle raised by elephants. Besides, if you read the article, I’m the one who was out boozing all night, hanging with prostitutes. You were the heroic one, taking our daughter away from my evil ways.” Chase playfully kissed Grace on the cheek and guided me to the couch, as Susan headed upstairs.
Grace squealed in delight and giggled as Chase played with her tiny nose.

Crow's Row by Julie Hockley

HOLY. SMOKES!!

I finished this last night and i STILL can't get over it. Praying i don't have to wait to long for the sequel.

Emmy comes from the rich life, a nice house nice car, over loving parents. But she walked away from it all. She moved the bad neighbor hood, enrolled at a mediocre college and just to make her life for her. Everything sh achieves in life she wants it to be because of her hard work and not because of her parents money.
Then she meets a strange boy (Cameron) one day out jogging, all because his big idiotic, slobbering dog trampled her.
He warns her to stay away from that part of town because it isn't safe. But Emmy runs through that part of town so she can see her brothers grave. Her brother Bill was the most important person in her life, and since he died a part of her has been missing. She knew Bill was into some bad things, but as she meets more of the strange boy she finds secrets about her brother. He was into really bad things and he the leader of a drug gang.
Emmy finds herself trusting and falling in love with Cameron, missing him when he is gone and wanting nothing more than to run into his arms when he's there. But Cameron knows that Bill would never want his sister brought into this kind of life, that's why he hid it from her for all those years.
But Cameron finds it hard to stay away from her, coming back early from business just to be near her. He knows their worlds can never be together and he must let her go. But when the head strong Emmy refuses to leave him, then there is only one thing he can do to ensure her safety.

This was amazingly written, couldn't put it down and full of surprises.
There is one thing i think is going to happen in the sequel and i REALLY hope it does. But for anyone who loves a great love story, a good guy dealing with bad decision and fiesty heroine who won't take no for an answer then this is for you!!
